Below is a map of the Underground Railroad around 1860. On the map it shows several different routes that slaves could take to make their way to freedom in Canada.

As Liza and Julilly travelled along the Underground Railroad, they had to endure many hardships: treacherous paths, severe weather and temperatures, and dangerous people like slave catchers.
